There will be public hearings with relevant witnesses for the purpose of information-gathering to inform the Nexus Phase of the Inquiry which will focus on three broad elements:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Banking Systems &amp; Practices,<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Regulatory and Supervisory Systems &amp; Practices, and<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Crisis management systems and policy responses.<\/p>\n<p>Background on Professor Karl Whelan and FTI<\/p>\n<p>An open tendering process was conducted to procure the necessary expert support for the Context Phase. FTI in association with Professor Karl Whelan have been selected to provide expert support to the Oireachtas Banking Inquiry Committee for the context phase of the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>Karl Whelan is professor of Economics at University College Dublin. Before joining UCD, he worked as an economist at the Central Bank of Ireland and before that the Federal Reserve Board.
