{"id":4700,"date":"2015-04-29T15:23:05","date_gmt":"2015-04-29T15:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/inquiries.oireachtas.ie\/banking\/?p=4700"},"modified":"2015-04-29T15:23:05","modified_gmt":"2015-04-29T15:23:05","slug":"banking-inquiry-committee-agrees-fifth-tranche-of-witnesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inquiries.oireachtas.ie\/banking\/banking-inquiry-committee-agrees-fifth-tranche-of-witnesses\/","title":{"rendered":"Banking Inquiry Committee agrees fifth tranche of witnesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Oireachtas Banking Inquiry today agreed the fifth tranche of witnesses for the Nexus Phase of the Inquiry.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Nexus Phase, when the Committee will engage with institutions and individuals who had roles relating to the crisis, will focus on three broad elements \u2014 Banking Systems &amp; Practices; Regulatory and Supervisory Systems &amp; Practices; and Crisis management systems and policy responses \u2014 and how these three elements interacted with each other.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman Ciaran Lynch TD says: \u201cToday the Committee agreed and signed off on the fifth tranche of witnesses for the Nexus Phase of hearings. This tranche will centre on advisors to the Government; C&amp;AG; the Attorney General; developers; and the NTMA. The notification includes the name, role, line of inquiry and proposed date for the hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nexus Phase hearings will run until the middle of September with a total of 64 public hearings planned. It is now envisaged that around 60 witnesses will be called to the public hearings during the Nexus Phase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis phase of our hearings includes a move by the Committee to compelling witnesses and statements and the use of evidence. Under the witness management protocol, there will be a structured witness engagement with a seven week lead-in between the notification and the public hearing.
