Central Bank Governor Professor Patrick Honohan will attend a meeting of the Oireachtas Banking Inquiry tomorrow, Wednesday, 11th March to clarify some of the evidence he gave to the Committee in January.
Chairman Ciaran Lynch TD: “Professor Honohan wrote to me wishing to follow up on a number of points which arose out his evidence to the inquiry in January, particularly in relation to the bank guarantee and the powers of the Governor of the Central Bank in the period up to 2008. The Committee has invited Central Bank Governor Professor Patrick Honohan to reappear before the Committee on foot of his written request to amend evidence presented to the Committee on 15th January. This follow-up meeting is specific to deal with the Governor’s correspondence and will take place on Wednesday 11th March. This will conclude Professor Honohan’s evidence to the Committee for the Context Phase of the Inquiry.”
The hearing with Professor Honohan starts at 3.30pm in Committee 1, Leinster House.
