Banking Inquiry Chairman welcomes Senan Allen review and expresses full confidence in staff

08/09/2015

Oireachtas Banking Inquiry Chairman Ciaran Lynch has welcomed the report by senior counsel Senan Allen which exonerated all staff working on the Inquiry and expressed full confidence in staff.

Chairman Ciaran Lynch said: “I welcome this independent review which has found that there is no substance to the claims made by the whistleblower and that the claims were not backed up by documentary evidence. This report is unambiguous in its findings that there is no basis to the allegations made and in exonerating staff and clearing them of any wrongdoing. No special treatment was given to certain witnesses, any redactions of documents were reasonable and procedures for dealing with conflicts of interest are robust and have been correctly implemented. I would like to express my full confidence in the ability and integrity of Inquiry staff and in the work that has been done to date. The publication of this review will now allow the staff and the Committee to concentrate on its core work and commence its final phase of work leading to the Inquiry report.”
