Banking Inquiry Committee agrees sixth tranche of witnesses

20/05/2015

The Oireachtas Banking Inquiry has agreed the sixth tranche of witnesses for the Nexus Phase of the Inquiry.

This tranche will centre on the second phase of banks to come before the inquiry, the Oireachtas and international organisations. The notification includes the name, role, line of inquiry and proposed date for the hearing.
The full list of persons who have been issued with a Notice of Intention to date can be accessed here. This link has been updated to include the first group of persons agreed in the sixth tranche of witnesses who have been issued with notices. Please note that it is not the complete list of sixth tranche names and further names agreed by the Committee for the sixth tranche will be added in the coming days as notices are issued. The tranche six list will confirm and finalise the full list of witnesses to come before the Committee and all notifications are expected to be issued to witnesses before the end of this week.

Chairman Ciaran Lynch TD says: “The Committee agreed and signed off on the sixth tranche of witnesses for the Nexus Phase of hearings. This tranche will centre on the second phase of banks to come before the inquiry, the Oireachtas and international organisations. The notification includes the name, role, line of inquiry and proposed date for the hearing.”

“Nexus Phase hearings will run until the middle of September with a total of 66 public hearings planned, with more than 90 witnesses called to the public hearings during the Nexus Phase.

“This phase of our hearings includes a move by the Committee to compelling witnesses and statements and the use of evidence. Under the witness management protocol, there will be a structured witness engagement with a seven week lead-in between the notification and the public hearing. The protocol includes timescales, evidence books and technical briefings.”
