Oireachtas Banking Inquiry to discuss advisory group report

22/07/2014

The Committee, which has been tasked with preparing a detailed proposal for the banking inquiry, will meet in private at 12 noon tomorrow, Wednesday, 23rd July, 2014.

Chairman Ciaran Lynch TD: “At our last meeting, the Committee agreed membership of the ad-hoc advisory group comprising specialists from the public and private sectors with knowledge and expertise in relation to the banking sector to provide expert knowledge and input to the Committee in developing a relevant proposal for the inquiry.

“The group , which is working on a pro-bono basis, was provided with a high-level scoping document agreed by the Committee which included the broad purpose of the inquiry along with a consolidated document of Committee members’ inputs. The group was tasked with developing a draft inquiry framework and an inquiry plan based on the Committee’s high-level scoping document. The group has met on four occasions to date and tomorrow we will receive an interim report from the ad hoc advisory group in order that a relevant proposal for the inquiry will be ready for submission to the CPPs of both Houses by the Committee’s agreed target date of 17th September 2014. We will also have a discussion on administrative and logistical issues in relation to the inquiry.”
