Oireachtas Banking Inquiry to recall Central Bank Governor

03/03/2015

The Oireachtas Banking Inquiry has agreed to invite Central Bank Governor Professor Patrick Honohan to reappear before the Committee on foot of his written request to amend evidence presented to the Committee on 15th January.

Chairman Ciaran Lynch TD: “Professor Honohan wrote to me last month wishing to follow up on a number of points which arose out his evidence to the inquiry in January, particularly in relation to the bank guarantee and the powers of the Governor of the Central Bank in the period up to 2008. The Banking Inquiry has now agreed to invite Professor Honohan to reappear before the Committee to clarify some of the evidence he gave to the Committee in January. This will conclude Professor Honohan’s evidence to the Committee for the Context Phase of the Inquiry. ”

A schedule with the date and time when Professor Honohan will attend the Committee will be published shortly.
