Senator Marc Mac Sharry was elected to Seanad Eireann on the Industrial & Commercial Panel in 2002. He was re-elected in 2007 and 2011. He has served as Fianna Fail Spokesman on Finance & Public Service, Health and Marine & Natural Resources. He has been a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee in each of these areas. He is a member of the Oireachtas Commission and a former member of the Forum on Europe.
In his career outside the Oireachtas he has been CEO of Sligo Chamber of Commerce 2000-2005, has worked in the export of Irish Meat products throughout the world with Celtic Foods Limited 1994-2000 and with the then Irish Permanent Building Society 1992-1995. He also runs a family estate agency in his native Sligo.
He is married to Marie and has 3 children.
